My film noir, SWEET LOVE AND DEADLY, has been selected for the Arizona Underground Film Festival and will have its maiden voyage on Sept 24 at 5:00pm in Tucson, Arizona, at "The Screening Room."

Yes. I do have stage fright.

Awesome, Paul!

Remember to wear a dark shirt. Pit stains do not a good impression make. (Yes, I AM the VoE.)

(Voice of Experience.)

Seriously this is great news. WHen do we get to see it?

Thank you!

Yes, I have my uber-cool, total-black filmmaker costume all picked out. I'd love to add a beret, but those just don't work if you have even slightly curly hair. I'm just not a shades-wearing kind of guy; a monocle would be more my style. Also, I don't have a longish duster-style overcoat, although I bet I could sweet-talk my costumer into making one ....

**

I have no distribution plan beyond vague concepts of prayer for a cash buyout and/or net sales. There is no one famous in this movie, and that is a serious limitation. Also, this is a drama, not a SIN CITY -style noir-flavored action movie (although there is, of course, action in it, just not wall-to-wall action). Except for aficionados of the classic noirs, that is also a limitation.

I've put up a web site with stills but no clips. This is my first attempt at making a web site. I used the intuit.com website builder tool box, which is perfect for something simple like this.

p.s.
I'm going to be making a web site for "The Domino Theatre," the name under which I produce all art works. It came from the original theatre of which I was a founder, in 1958. In it, I'll be posting promo material for DEATH MAGIC (1993) as well as topics on microbudget filmmaking.

Congratulations Paul!

Good Luck with the premiere. Hope to see it soon in a theatre near somebody, movie channel or streaming net flicks.

Noir assumes that the best of people will be consumed by the worst. There are lots of other ditinguishing qualities of the noir universe.

FESTIVAL UPDATE:

At the suggestion of several people, I have created a facebook page for the movie, "Sweet Love And Deadly". I also bought a facebook ad for $2 / day, aiming at L.A., Phoenix, and Tucson. Some L.A. people have already "liked" it. I figure that for a week's worth of promo, I could spend $14.

**

I have two twenty-something hotties to distribute flyers at the festival, the first time being tonight, the opening party. They will be wearing, in addition to flattering clothes, a domino -- a Lone Ranger mask -- since I am "The Domino Theatre." The idea is to add a little ballyhoo, a little show-biz, to the premiere. I expect it to be a slightly Tromatic experience. (The ladies are also flyering and postering a number of places around town where potential filmgoers are likely to be found. Goal: fill the theatre, about 150 seats, perferably with at least a few people I have never met.)

**

I have arranged to have a blu-ray version of the movie burned by technical people who very much know what they're doing. This should be ready today. It is the maximum quality level I can get out of the showing. It's based on the 16.5 GB master version. The movie was shot with a DVX100 at 24p.

**

My leading lady is in Los Angeles, two of my stars have moved to NYC, one is working, so there will be exactly one major actor with me for the Q&A. When I told the D.P. that I had a slot in this festival, his reply was, "Holy crap." If I can't get him comped, he won't be there, either. Well.... it has been a few years. Eight, in fact.

**

I confess to some stage fright. This is the first film festival I've attended with a movie of my own, about 22 years after beginning down the indie movie path.

Showing a new movie feels like playing Hold 'Em, and shoving all your chips in before the flop. The party's starting, and this is IT, baby!

I'm trying to get some radio public service announcements, too. It never ends.
