I am an independent filmmaker. I made my first feature length film last year for around $2000. I am currently submitting it to film festivals. You can check out the website I made for it at http://www.amythologyofrevenge.com. I shot it on evenings and weekends over a period of about 3 months. I filmed last year's film pretty much by myself, with the assistance of a few friends who helped hold the boom mic.

I will be making another film this year, shooting on evenings and weekends around the months of May and June.
At this point in preproduction I am currently working on the script and I've already gotten new cameras (Rebel T2i) and portable audio recorder(Zoom H4N).
I intend this year's project to be an action comedy with some gunplay and even a monster.

This year I would really like to find someone who would be interested in taking part in the creative process and helping mold this film into something better then I could do alone. Still, I would also be willing to settle on finding someone to show up regularly and hold the boom mic.
The positions I would like to fill would be:

Producer: Someone willing to help with auditions and brainstorming how to do this film on no budget. I really need someone who I can turn to and ask: "is this a dumb idea?". It would be best if this person was willing to fill one of the other roles

Sound: Someone to show up and hold the boom mic and keep their ears focused on the sound.

DOP: I intend to film this with 2 cameras. The DOP would be in charge of the first camera and helping to come up with dynamic and exciting angles.

I have not been able to secure any funding so I will be paying for this out of my own pocket; therefore payment will be a small percentage of profits, credit, free beer and a small role in the film if they want it.

Please email me if you're interested in more info or would like to send me a link to your demo reel.
Thanks for your time,

If you're intending to have "some gunplay" you might want to read my article "Firearms On-set" I'm based in Vancouver so all the info should be relevant. I wish I had some extra time to help you out.

Hey great article.
I think it might be a bit improved if you mention how much the permit and application for the film permit costs as well as how much the insurance that the permit requires costs.
Those are the things that stop me from being able to use any of the resources people keep telling me about in Vancouver.

Yeah, I agree with you and that's why I'm working on an article for indy filmmakers who want to know the ins and outs of the riveting world of production insurance. Permit requirements change according to the local district so I'll probably leave that topic for a later article.

We use Callow Insurance, they work on a lot of productions in Vancouver big and small. www.globalproducer.com/ID15538
