Post Adding Masks in NLE - Degrades the Image??? Reply with quote
Hey guys,

I know your not suppose to do any kind of CC'ing or other effects work in your NLE. Therefore, I wanted to know if you add an anamorphic mask in you NLE, such as AVID and then export as a TIFF sequence to AE, does it degrade the image?

thanks for your help

in a word - YES.

the degradation may or may not matter to you depending on things like the quality of the source material, the amount of further post processing you're intending to do, and your target delivery medium.

but basically the workflow recommended in DVRG aims for a single render pass to get from your source pixels (via post + fx etc) to your master TIFF. the process you described would involve re-rendering of your masked TIFF files to get to a master.
