Hi, gang,

Not much posting going on lately. What's everyone up to?

I am trying to finish post on an educational TV mini-series, as well as a prep for a three week trip shooting lacrosse camps in Virginia-Delaware-Maryland. Oh, and finish cutting a feature.

Nothing much in terms of filmmaking from my end. I have a feature planned for next year though. Possibly a short too, if I can fit it in.

Jamie, do you remember you helped me out when I was looking for info about the LX5 - I bought that and within a couple of months of that I also bought a Leica M8.2. So this year so far I've been focusing and enjoying some still photography.

Very cool.

I've been doing more still work as well, because, frankly, that's where the paying jobs gave been, but nothing really creative.

Although it's awesome using Noir ^_^.

Lots of planning for the future going on, too.

Starting a documentary on an artist who was fairly well know in the 50s but has become forgotten, fairly interesting life - San Francisco's youngest police chief, stint in a mental hospital, vaudeville singer - trick is to whip all this material into a story Smile

Writing a Rebel narrative piece, trying for a little more character development, less explosions (blasphemy I know Smile -- probably shoot on a 7D.

The insurance company being unwilling to make my studio burglary loss good, the matter is in the hands of a lawyer. In the meantime I have a part-time gig starting soon (production money!), and will be indulging the Muse with 2, possible 3 new screenplays that are in the outline phase at the moment.

Finishing up editing, effects, grading and ADR on an 85 minute straight to Blu-Ray feature length project.

It's taken me 4 months and I am the only guy in post.
Almost done, more on it soon.

Working and lurking...

By day:
Started a new day job in Procurement and logistics

By night:
Webisode series for some guys in the USA, edited and graded "the rebel way"

Still trying to figure out a way to get onlocation on my notebook to accept AE output via firewire (turning it into a cheap, calibrated monitor) though....

Haven't been going too crazy on any one project since calling my last feature done.

Still shooting, cutting and working pretty crazy hard at work, but starting to feel the pull to get into my next indie project.

Still checking the cafe every day. It's funny cause much like masterP I feel like I'm working and lurking Very Happy

I've been getting and sharing tips here, mostly for my son Ben Kadie's films, since he was 12. He's now 16.

After a year without premiering a film, because of the special effects work need for one of them, Ben is happily premiering three films in festivals in three months. (Last Sunday, his "Mack", screening with college films, was named Best Student Film at the Rainier Independent Film Festival.)

He's currently working on two projects
- video sketch comedy with two friends
- a new 15-minute film to be shot this Summer

As Ben's interests have grown into more-and-more aspects of filmmaking, the suggestions and encouragement from the book and this web site have been very important.

Always good to hear your updates on Ben, Carl! Has been fascinating watching the increase in his abilities as he progresses through projects.

Good luck with the script, jleo!

While in Hollywood, you can look up Gage. Tell him to stop by sometime!
