Post Deciding which story to write and produce into a film. Reply with quote
Story 1 (superhero/action):
A man struggling with bills and debt finds he has the power to control gravity, he goes out and tries to "fight baddies" but gets shot and gets rushed to hospital and he is charged with hospital and medical fees as he hasn't got insurance, he decides (as this power got him into trouble it will get him out) after much deliberation to rob a bank, he succeeds but the security footage of his power goes viral and is all over the media. he is then hunted down by FBI agents, military, scientist and the other "heroes" who lay low and don't use their powers. (I don't know where I am going to go with this one, he could become a fugitive, a hitman, an experiment, a criminal etc). (the comedy would be the realism of being a superhero, such as fashioning a skin tight suit with no sewing experience so he ends up wearing a hooded jumper and mask or walking round looking for "baddies")

Story 2 (sci-fi/thriller/mystery):
In the year 2014 am astronaut is sent out to the space shuttle orbiting earth to replace the old crew with 3 other crew members and himself. On their second week in orbit they lose contact with earth completely, after 2 more weeks they go down to earth as it is dangerous not to have contact, they crash land on earth, our main character wakes up from the crash to see that crew members did not survive, he gets out of the ship and walks around, everyone is gone, everything is still there except humans, like everybody just got up and walked away. after exploring for a few hours he returns to the ship in a state of panic and confusion to see that the corpse of his crew are gone. he is alone, or is he?

Which one would you prefer to watch?
If there is any suggestion to change to make it more realistic or original please go ahead as I don't know much about space travel. If there is anything you think I should add or change please tell me, I need feedback.
Thank you. Very Happy

i say the second
first sounds almost silly. he can control gravity yet he gets shot? why not just increase gravity to the point where the guy with the gun collapses b/c his feet cant hold his weight anymore? why not change the center of gravity in the world to the servers of the security cameras to pulverize them in a nanosecond?

second sounds cool.

Thanks for the feedback, I think by the end of the movie he would be able to do such things but the character needs to develop, I guess you could call him a "noob".

Don't take this as an insult, I don't mean it as such.

But check out the Top 3 links of this search:
http://www.google.com/search?q=Writing+a+logline&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

When pitching ideas like this, you want to just put out the needed info as quick and meaningful as possible.. cause you dont want people to lose peoples attention.

You want to put the following in:
- The hero (Protagonist)
- The Villain (Antagonist)
- The Heros Flaw
- The life changing event (What starts the story)
- Any Allies he has (if he has any)

If you cant fit it into a one or two sentence description with these key elements, it may need to be reworked as it is probably too vague.

For the record, I like #2 more. #1 seems too much like Heroes, give it a hook.. make it more unique and it has promise. #2 seems like a cross between Moon and I Am Legend, could be interesting and it has a nice hook.

I like the idea in the first one of the guy trying to fashion a costume and it looking bad.
I think comedy could arise from that--someone with superpowers who cant sew.
Its realistic.
He would have to endure the insults of criminals and pedestrians. lol

The second one sounds more dramatic, although i would check out a few Twilight Zones as research if you get stuck for ideas.
They did a few with spaceships crashing on earth or it being barren or the crew being dead on impact.
