In color space, everyone can hear you scream...
Just when you thought it was safe to close your Rebel Color Corrector, some shlub walks up to you and tells you they want your ultra-cool short to show at Sundance.
"Sure," says you.
"We'll need a film out," he says.
"Oh," is your ingenious reply.
So you carefully move your coffee cup off of the Rebel's Guide that you've disrespectfully been using as a coaster and start to read about "Film Look" on page 275. Then you read it again. Then you put it down, rub your temples and start mumbling, "My brain hurts."
Welcome to After Effect's swipe at a color management system (CMS). While CMS has been around for ages in other programs, it's brand spankin' new to After Effects and is still a bit rough around the edges.
Thankfully, Stu took the time about a year ago to try to demystify things with a number of ProLost posts about AE's powerful, though confusing, CMS capabilities.
For those new to the blog, here are the links to those posts. As the saying goes, "Read 'em and weep."
