Hey guys. How come when I try to render quick looks on a prores timeline I get the message 'the effect quick looks failed to render: your hardware cannot render at the requested size & depth' but when I put it into a ntsc dv timeline it works? Also on the prores timeline it won't play back on my monitor but in dv it does???
My version of FCP will only send out DV NTSC to a separate monitor (although I'm willing to bet there's a switch for PAL in there somewhere). I have no idea if the later versions have upgraded this.
I don't know if the colors will look the same to the naked eye in SD as well as upgraded outputs. My guess is yes, but only the experts here have opinions worth listening to.

pro-res is a substantially beefier coded than dv - the message is telling you to get a faster processor, more ram or both.

Thanks, I guess the ram makes sense and I'll look into that...
