The differences mostly lie in the still aspects of the cam. Other than the weather-proffign of the body, it would be hard to see much difference if you are using this strictly for video. DV rebels should be all over this. It saves you money for rails and FF.

Don't know how much of a difference it makes but on the negative side the 550D doesn't sport a dual processor.

The dual-processing will have little to do with the video end. Essentially, Canon stripped out a lot of 'still features' and gave the digital rebels a cam to go from dreaming to telling their story. As Stu says, "No more excuses".

Some are speculating that the dual processor is the reason the 7d has the over-heating issue. But we will have to see.

Looks awesome. Regular people might actually afford something like this...
But can anyone tell me what this means?
"but its channel reader is lower (four-channel for T2i, versus eight for 7D)"

I think it has something to do with error correction, redundant data or how it writes data to memory. If there is an error in one channel, the data can be recovered from another channel. More channels. less chance of corrupt pictures.

How about lenses? Will the T2i accept high end lenses? I assume it will.
Thanks,
George

T2i = the new rebel cam. It's cheaper than the HV20 when it first came out. It accepts pretty much all Canon EF lenses, and video wise seems to be on par with the 7D. True 24P w/o pulldown, large sensor for bokakeh, and low light sensitivity should be close to 7D, I would think. If I didn't have a 7D already I'd have one of these bad-boys on pre-order.
