Stu - An idea for the forum.
I'm in a bind. I'm having issues picking up a special makeup effects artist. (I'm a former makeup artist and can easily do it myself, I just cant do it and fulfill my 900 other Rebel duties.)
I think this board would benefit from a networking or colaboration section. Not a filmmaker gettogether and BS section, but a "I need a sound guy this weekend and I'm available to do makeup next weekend. Who cant help out?" sorta section.
I have a fortune in sound equipment sitting in a corner that could be used on someone elses project if I just get a couple guys to help me this weekend.
Know what I'm saying?
What say you?

I'll second that - I think that would be a really good idea.

It's a cool idea guys, but one thing to consider is that this list will never be as big as, say, DVXuser.com. I'm not in any way trying to replicate that excellent forum—I highly suggest that anyone who's a member here should also be there. I think you'll find the members very supportive, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if you met some collaborators there.
hey Gage fx, i will be available this weekend to work for free. I do sound recording at home, but field recording I only did in college. We can meet early to go over your needs and equipment, levels, boom and all. just PM me.
hey Stu great page on onlining and color correction. That was a wealth of knowledge you definetly can't find anywhere not even on Adobe's site. works on any DV project.

Hey danny, thanks. We are just doing a couple shots tonight, MOS, and we are shooting light - 1 actor, myself and lighting tech. Single china ball on a pole for some location stuff. If you dont mind, I will definitely take you up on the offer next shoot day. I'll PM you some info and we'll talk.
Stu - Not a fan of the DVXUser. Good info. Alot to learn. But the xxxxxxxxxxxxself editxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.....
Suffice to say....
I think this site and your readers will be more the type most of us are looking for. I'm sure there will be crossover, but the DVXUSers that make it over here are the ones to talk to. Not the masses there.

Gage, I appreciate your point of view but I wish you hadn't said that. DVXuser has a broad range of members but on the whole I find them to be remarkably supportive and positive, and I want them all to feel welcome here should they decide to join (after buying the book of course ). On the other hand, in no way am I trying to do double duty with that list, or "compete" with it. My only wish for this list is that, in its own small way, it should grow to have the same level of positivity and support found on DVXuser. I think we're off to a good start.
