Post Change wheel size in Colorista? Reply with quote
Hi, all,

Is there anyway to enlarge the color wheels when using Colorista? I mean, making them physically larger on-screen? Other than using a bigger monitor?

Thanks,

Other than using the Windows magnifier, or a Mac equivalent, it wouldn’t look like it!

A few months ago, I put together a pimped version of the ‘New Rebel CC’ script that built a comp-panel-based, Colorista-style UI to drive Stu’s original expressions. Since the interface itself was actually just a comp-panel you could zoom (up to 1600 %) into the wheels.

I started the thing as (a) a beginner’s exercise in scripting, and (b) because I had become interested in the idea of controlling AE via MIDI devices, and found that Colorista’s inability to allow numerical input was going to be a problem. Since the trial version of the software I was using to experiment with the latter element expired, I more or less completely forgot about the whole thing!

I’ll dig out the script later, clean it up a bit, and send it to Stu to see what he thinks.

It’s a shame that Colorista’s individual Lift/Gamma/Gain controls cannot be dialled in numerically, or driven by expressions, or else—aside from my own little MIDI fantasy—one could quite easily use the same basic idea (using the sampleImage() function to pick colours from a larger gradient) to effectively perform what you’re asking.

Interesting, Danny.

If you load Colorista into Final Cut, it gives you the option of Colorista (sliders), which lets you slide or manually enter RGB numbers for the values of each of the wheels.

I forgot about the Universal Access zoom feature for the Mac. Thanks for reminding me.

crash - don't know if this helps you at all - but if you're looking for more precision in colorista slow you mouse speed down - (sys prefs > keyboard and mouse)
