troopers and stuff |
|
ha, no i used the gas masks troopers as i had this footage left over from something else, same with the war world back round which i shot in my garage last year for a rock video plate and had lots of extra plates of it lest over. The Wolfenstien thing sounds great. definitely try it.
I'm getting closer to getting the elements to work so the next task is to improve the quality of each layer.
Troops:
Proper uniforms. I have several SS and panzer costumes in the works, My girlfriend ordered a STG 44s from these guys plus extras for my Christmas present. from this site. http://www.cushmanpaintball.com/
the real one...
and I've found stuff on Ebay like the SS cuff bands, jackets etc I'm going to have to do the multi guy/splitville at first but having proper look should help some what. But i really want panzer guy sticking out of hatches etc.
Vehicles
try this again but shot better t stop. plan how to move it so that side is away from the camera using a greens stick etc.
And best of all a friend of mine is willing to buy a RC tank and let me use it to try so ill try that too.
back rounds:
i should build some new miniatures for this as well. Also try that out in field shots again.
so this week ill try the hand moved shot again with a eye to better lighting to match and having a nicer key.On a larger note i still have a pending motion control session to try out a bunch of stuff like this but that is taking longer to get smoothed out then i would have hoped. But the almost free cost of two days to try this and my space ship stuff will make it worth it.
And lastly to what end. I'm developing a realistic WW II story but would need a lot of this due to budget and that its set in a 1950s nazi germany.

good stuff.
I've been after this MP40 for sometime, but UK rules forbid me unless I'm registered airsoft or film & production Co (basically having insurance which I'm not prepared to pay for just yet). I might try from your link above though, $50 unassembled & unpainted I might be ok.
Santa bought you a STG 44 hey, those kicked ass in medal of honour
frightening thought to be on the recieving end for real!
think I might get the tiger out again today & have another go, writing this has given me the bug...

great reference |
|
If your looking for great reference i would highly recommend the movie "DOWNFALL".Amazing film, but near the end there's lots of Waffen SS running around with late period weapons.
We have similar weird laws in Canada about airsoft guns. You cant import them but its not illegal to own. I thought about getting those but the cost was the killer in the end. over 1100 bucks for the STG 44, ouch. But if i get to the point where i need a close up gun or that the cushmen paint ball thing looks bad on camera ill get one of those.

I liked that last shot red&blue, very cool. Really makes me want to do some green screen stuff. I just need to find the time. Is the background on that shot a miniature?

backround |

Yes it is. its also quite small about 8 feet deep in total. Starts with larger scale and detail till the far back is just cardboard cutouts. All done in my garage with a cheapo smoke machine.

stg 44 vacuform prop |
|
ok so im basically done this prop which was bought from cushman paintball. i don't think it would work for more then a background gun, next version ill
buy one of the new low cost airsoft version and cast it in resin. but for now this will do.
here's cushman again...
http://www.cushmanpaintball.com/replicastg44.html
the vacuform helmet is great as it will have a cover over it so thats a low cost way to get those.
helmet cover

STG vacuform
next step to make a vampir infra red system for it...

Looking good! Thankfully there is a man about an hour from my house who has tons (and I mean tons) of military vehicles, tanks, motorcycles, weapons, etc. He does a lot of stuff for military events, parades, etc.

Seeing all of this wants me to make my own WWII short. I've thought of re-doing a 15 minute documentary about Audie Murphy that the Audie Murphy museum in Greenville shows to all of the visitors and including some reenactments in it.

ME 262 test shot |
|
Did a test shot of that ME 262 model think of this as a animatic, I want to try this in-camera with one of the insane sunsets we've had here in Vancouver.
might not look it but i did a ton of aging to this to take the plastic edge off.
please keep in mind this is still just a rough work up...
