Curious myself. I plan on downloading the demo, but have been holding off until I have a new project that I can plug into it since it's only 14 days. Screenshots seem decent and I think their pricing scheme is reasonable.

I find Celtx suits my needs for most this stuff, sure its not as good but it's not $300 either.

Celtx looks wonderful until you start using it and realize everything that's missing. And the biggest problem is that there's no budgeting in Celtx.

for my most recent project I used an Excel spreadsheet for budgeting, don't get me wrong I find this kind of software great but far to out of my price range to consider.

I hear tell of a magical time when people could do budgeting and scheduling by hand, with pencil and paper. I suspect that to be a myth but it's worth noting that software serves to make the process easier but isn't by any means a necessity.
In some instances, like storyboarding software, I'd argue the computer does more harm than good. It doesn't have to look pretty, it just has to convey the shot. I also think the tactile process of rearranging a schedule board is better than doing it in software, but I'm sure I'm alone on that one.

Scheduling to some degree is common sense. Budgeting isn't. Once upon a time it was done with pencil and paper, but it was done by people who had been vetted through an industry - the studio system - and knew pretty well what they were doing. For independents, budgeting is a mystery, and although we have a can-do DIY attitude, we benefit from templates. The DVRG is a great template for production. A piece of software with pre-defined details seems like a great one for budgeting.
And really, though we like to do everything on the cheap here, the notion that someone needs software for a budget shows that maybe he's growing into big boy britches and has a budget - and that being the case, $300 is pretty reasonable. I haven't needed anything like this myself yet (I still wear diapers but my next project will probably be tightly budgeted and I'm looking for software to help. Once I have it I'll probably help other local indies by doing their budgets because, hey, why not have that experience?
I have many hats. Which one should I wear today?
Oooh. new signature line.
